All that's left are just grains of sand where once the mighty river ran It's a course that leads to nowhere, in a dry and dusty land (coughs) Nowhere!

The wind is whipping at the window Dust’s a Devil at the door Thunder frightened off our scarecrow Water’s flooding from below Cobwebs heavy on your conscience While you sweep away the silt Try to pass a bill in Congress That will wash away all your guilt Put down your coal It’s played out it’s role Pick up your Sons and get ready to run The Storm is screaming as it brews Lightning’s flashing hellish hues Mississippi’s rising like the blues Tide is rising even faster This whirlwind’s no romance Politicians profit from disaster if they're given half a chance Big business is still taking ‘cause seedy leaders say Scientists are faking all the data in their way Put down your coal It’s played out it’s role Look at the sun and get ready to run The Storm is screaming as it brews Lightning’s flashing hellish hues Mississippi’s rising like the blues Wind is whipping at the window Dust’s a Devil at the door Thunder frightened off our scarecrow Muddy Water from below Cobwebs heavy on your conscience While you sweep away the silt Try to pass a bill in Congress That will hide away all your guilt Put down your coal It’s played out it’s role There goes your sun so get ready to run The storm is screaming as it brews Lightning’s flashing hellish hues Mississippi’s rising like the blues Mississippi’s rising like the blues Mississippi’s rising like the blues

See the good or the bad one Do you know who to blame? Are they here with their Cell phone? Is it always the same? Do we walk on the pavement With our hearts in our hands? Never look where we’re going Never see where we stand You can find the crack there in the Darkness You can find the tinniest ray of light Just believe what your heart says Make it right! Couples eating at tables With their phones and a spoon Tagging each other with labels Texting to other rooms When you forward on Twitter Are you sure that it’s true? Does it make the world better? Does it show the real you? You can find the crack there in the Darkness You can find the tinniest ray of light Just believe what your heart says Make it right! We don’t need the whole story When we propagate hate If the headline is gory Do you click on the bait? When you see them on Twitter Ragged, dusty, enroute Head down palm up and bitter Is it them? IS IT YOU? You can find the crack there in the Darkness You can find the tinniest ray of light Just believe what your heart says Make it right! Just believe what your heart says Make it right!

Mendip Now 02:39
She said “the Busking is better in Bristol down here, your music is lame” I said it’s simply ‘cause you actually hear them They’re using gear that raises their game The Keyboard guy that works down the lane is playing songs that all sound the same ... ... His talent really used to make us feel proud but now in Mendip, he’s never that loud. You’re in Mendip now You’re in Mendip now Where no amps are allowed Gotta please the crowd, sing above the row But no amps are allowed The Council needs to take the trash away That’s what someone said about us today It make their week when they turn ‘round and lay Restrictions on how where and what we can play We’re in Mendip now We’re in Mendip now Where no amps are allowed Gotta please the crowd, sing above the row But no amps are allowed No amplification, no backtracks here poppet No pickup or loopers, Ed Sheeran can hop it You can’t use a mic or an overdrive box an electric guitar or an amp made by Vox (no) We’re in Mendip now We’re in Mendip now Where no amps are allowed Gotta please the crowd, sing above the row But no amps are allowed We’re in Mendip now We’re in Mendip now Where no amps are allowed We’re in Mendip now We’re in Mendip now The Council’s so proud (Ladies and Gentlemen the electric guitar solo) (Laat Vai Steve!!) (Hold on, where’s that bass coming from?)

Web of Lies 04:30
I tried for years and years to get inside her head But all that time was wasted Her “friendship” and her bed There never was sincerity and all the things she said were drafted and conceptualized To hide a hidden thread Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m looking for the grand disguise. Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m looking for the grand disguise. I hid myself from warnings Ignoring what was said A nagging doubt was dawning a morning sky of red A voice inside spoke up at last like dreams will often do (it said:) “The way she’s treating others is the way she will treat you” Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m looking for the grand disguise. Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m looking for the grand disguise. The truth came by to sort me out one windy winters’ day My sky was littering with crows to carry love away We reap just what we sow they say I knew our time was done When comes a time of reckoning the race is truly run Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m seeing through the grand disguise. Looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m l seeing through the grand disguise. Yeah I’m looking at the way it ties Unraveling a web of lies In her head and through her eyes I’m seeing through the grand disguise. In my head and through my eyes At last I see the grand disguise.

The Orange 03:03
Lying cheating lemon with an orange for a face You love your hair but you don’t care about the human race. Narcissistic bully with a flapjack on your head you’ll sell your soul and dig for coal ‘till all the planet’s dead Now that you’ve conquered all the fools You seem to think that you don’t need the rules Why would you put up all those walls? Is it to make up for your tiny ... hands? Because of Daddies credit you’re now a self made man Trust fund baby, grab that lady Cash in while you can Xenophobic cretin with a mind that’s out to lunch Your solution - just to nuke ‘em Give that switch a punch! Now that you’ve conquered all the fools You seem to think that you don’t need the rules Why would you put up all those walls? Is it to make up for your tiny ... hands? Your name here! Don’t get cocky ‘cause you’re “in” You know what’s on our minds Russian dealing, secret emails starting to unwind It gets rocky when your sins are there for all to see Who knows what the FBI could find? Well see. Presidential pimping with a product you can sell You can tweet it and repeat it Give us TV hell Misogynistic pervert with a Barbie on your arm We have seen her, Miss DeMeanor She could do you harm. Now that you’ve conquered all the fools You seem to think that you don’t need the rules Why would you put up all those walls? Is it to make up for your tiny balls Your so called “vision” for the climate causes world alarm You’ll drill for oil, pollute the soil until we buy the farm Lying cheating lemon with an orange for a face You love your hair but you don’t care about the human race. You love your hair but you don’t care about the human race. You love your hair but you don’t care about the human race.

As Venice sank beneath the waves, we set out from the coast Through puddles on the pathways, a sad and weary host The dams were cracked from lack of rain, no-one had planned ahead Fighting over water there and droves were lying dead We’d waited and delayed too long to halt the Earth’s decay our ice had turned to rivers and Greenland slipped away yeah slipped away, slipped away What did we need to stop all the madness? Where was the door that lead to the light? Can we unlock the fear of our sadness? Can we explain what gave us the right? Greenland covers Venice now, just war and pain remain No rainbow for a broken vow, the flood has come again All the bankers chose to stay to guard the wealth they’d stored Our journey lasted 40 days ... and then our spirits soared An island never seen before, rising sun with shielding hands Golden beach and pristine shore - Greenland’s virgin sands yeah oh yeah virgin sands, virgin sands The signs were there, were all around We found our future sunny The greatest gift that we have found? We have no need of money

Containment 02:10

about

In a way this album began in 1987 with "Roads of England" which was then an Electro pop demo, but what REALLY got it going was in December 2017 when the band I was rehearsing with decided that we should all "write some stuff".
They didn't like my "stuff" so this project was born.
It is my first songwriting project as I have never felt confident writing lyrics but that is now over as I feel happy with what has emerged here.
"Web of Lies" is dedicated to my friend the late Alan Faull who I was thinking of during the recording of the solos.
